Tijana Matic
WFC Rostov won thanks to the only goal in the last minute of regular time.
The return to the working days of the Super League, which coincided with the start of the second round, was not exactly smooth for Dynamo, but they had to work hard. First, in the first game after a three-week break, Krasnodar came to visit, and a week later, Rostov came to Novogorsk. Teams that are not yet aiming for any stratospheric heights this season, but if they want to and the opponent is conniving, they are capable of biting any grandee or at least claiming this title. Dynamo, of all people, knows how this can happen - the white-blues have already been burned by this this season. A draw with Chertanovo, victories in Krasnoyarsk, Ryazan, at home over Zvezda-2005 and even Krylia won with sweat and blood will not let us lie, and in this case, relax. And with the same Krasnodar and Rostov on the road, everything was also not easy. The 2:0 and 1:0 victories respectively only seem confident, but in reality the games were played on a very thin line. Especially in Rostov-on-Don, where everything was decided by the only goal by Elina Samoylova at the end of the match.
The picture changed little during the return visits to Novogorsk. A week ago, a single goal also helped to beat a strong Krasnodar. Only this time it was scored in an incredible acrobatic jump by Helena Bozic, who sent the ball into the goal of Natalia Silina after a corner kick by Elena Shesterneva. But everything could have turned out completely differently, if Krasnodar forward Arina Shuba had scored at least one of the two goals that hit the crossbar of the Dynamo goal!
Something similar could have been expected from the game with Rostov. Although objectively the team from Rostov-on-Don has not reached the level of Krasnodar this season. Only three wins in 12 matches, a big "minus" in the difference between goals scored and conceded, 11th place in the tournament table - everything said that the Rostov team was not feeling very well. Even against the backdrop of the not very bright "Krasnodar".
But in "Rostov" this month there was such a shake-up that anything could be expected from the yellow-blues. After all the failures that had piled up, the head coach Igor Gavrilin left the club, moving from Ryazan to Rostov-on-Don in the off-season, and his place was taken by Yana Chub, who had previously worked only with the youth team of "Rostov".
So, anything could be expected from the hot Rostov girls, both pleasant and not so. Therefore, predicting even the approximate course of the game in Novogorsk was akin to some astrological forecasts with an emphasis on "I believe / I don't believe".
Kaylan Williams could have celebrated her birthday in the match against Rostov by scoring a goal, but she was unable to score
As if living up to expectations, Rostov from the very first minutes appeared to be a team that had gone through a complete reboot cycle. The Rostov girls looked so interesting from the start of the game.
The first five minutes were spent in an equal game, or rather, in an equal fight. There really was a lot of it, which is why there were no approaches to the opponent's penalty area - neither the Dynamo nor the Rostov football players. The first sortie of the white-blues to the Rostov goal took place only after almost 10 minutes from the starting whistle: first, Lamunat Mustafayeva crossed from the left edge of the penalty area in the center, but none of the Dynamo football players were there, and a few seconds later Fauzia Nazhemba shot, but inaccurately.
Only by the end of the quarter of an hour, the Dynamo players began to slowly take the ball and increasingly get closer to the opponents' goal. One could regard this as a good sign, if not for the 10-minute period that followed. It included an unexpected decline in the activity of the white-blues, who again switched to a cautious game, and an injury to Elena Shesterneva. In the 25th minute, the striker left the field with the help of Dynamo doctors, and was replaced by Ekaterina Sergeeva. Paradoxically, immediately after this forced substitution, the nature of the game changed dramatically, and in favor of Dynamo. In the 29th minute, the most important thing could have happened, for which everyone gathered on this Saturday evening in Novogorsk - a goal by the white-blues. Today's birthday girl Kaylan Williams could have given herself a gorgeous birthday present, but she hit the crossbar with her powerful shot!
Following this, Sergei Lavrentyev's charges gave another burst of activity, the culmination of which was Tijana Matic's dribbling in the Rostov penalty area! If this incredible dribbling had ended with a goal by the Serbian footballer, the question of the best goal of the season could have been closed. But, like many things in this game, it did not happen. The zeros burning on the electronic scoreboard saw the footballers off to the under-tribune as surprised as the spectators of this match.
Elena Shesterneva left the field in the first half due to injury
The second half started without substitutions, although there was not much to say about this in relation to Dynamo. Firstly, in the first half, Sergeeva came on instead of Shesterneva, and secondly, if there was anyone to strengthen the Dynamo team's attack, it was only Galina Geybieva. Sergei Lavrentyev had no other attacking players at his disposal in this game. In fact, Galina came on in the 65th minute, replacing Mustafayeva. Thus, the coaching staff threw all possible forces into the attack and switched to a game with three forwards. After all, by that time the same ill-fated zeros were still burning on the scoreboard! True, the nature of the game had changed dramatically by that time. If in the first half and at the beginning of the second half, the Rostov girls still tried to snap back from time to time and showed something in the attack, then from the middle of the half they gave up this business and concentrated exclusively on defensive actions. Fortunately, there was enough work for the Rostov defenders. Starting from the 70th minute, the white-blues really locked in the charges of Yana Chub, a debutant coach in the Super League in this match, and literally piled on the goal of Yulia Chernyshova. Again Williams, again Matic, periodically Yulia Bessolova with her long-range shots - the maximum forces were thrown to push at least one ball into the Rostov goal. But something happened this Saturday with the ball, the goal, the ricochets, and just with the luck of the Dynamo footballers! The ball stubbornly did not want to fly into the guests' goal, as if they were bewitched. Well, ironically, those who played for most of the half only had one chance to do it. And the Rostov players scored so trivially that it was even a little offensive: Nadezhda Koltakova headed in a cross from a corner. Simple, but effective! It happened in the last minute of regular time, and the white-blues had six minutes to at least get even. If they had done that, the end of the match would have also entered the Super League gold fund. But fortune had no time for masterpieces that evening, and this time it chose those who played simply and selflessly as its favorites.
0:1 – and the white-blues concede and lose to Rostov at the highest level for the first time in their history.
