Elena Shesterneva: “Remaining matches will be difficult, we need to win each one”

The best player of July according to the fans of the WFC Dynamo – about winning the vote, last month's game statistics and the decisive period in the Super League.

— In July, the fans recognized you as the best player on the team. How was the second month of summer for you?

— In principle, the month was good. There were many matches, there were failures, victories, but by and large, July passed like the rest of the game periods. At the same time, it was at the end of July that we started losing.

— Is it nice when they call you the best?

— Of course, it is nice that the fans recognized me as the best player. I will continue to work, move forward, and help the team.

— In July, you had 5 points on the goal+assist system: a hat-trick against Football Academy and two more assists. Not bad statistics?

— The statistics are good, but we can’t stop there. I will continue to work, score goals and help my team in every possible way.

— As a striker, do you like scoring or assisting, creating chances for your teammates?

— It doesn’t matter, but it’s probably nicer to give more when your passes lead to goals.

— After the victory over Krasnodar, there was a series of four defeats in a row. What didn't work in the games with Lokomotiv and Zenit?

— I'll say this: we played well, we just lacked some kind of logical conclusion at the end of the attack. We really looked decent, and I can't say that our opponents somehow outplayed us. It was just our individual mistakes that led to the defeats. We are working on this, training, trying to improve. Moving on.

You can see how our girls came out of their mini-vacation and resumed their preparation for the rest of the season in our special photo galleryfollow this link.

— After the match with Lokomotiv, the team had a long break. What are you dedicating it to?

— We were given time to rest, to think about everything, to rethink something and to approach the remaining games with renewed strength. Now we are working, training, getting into the game rhythm.

Of course, a month of break is a lot, because without matches you are not in the game tone, but the coaching staff models training sessions for us that are as close to the games as possible. We are preparing for the next match. The remaining games will be difficult, we need to win each of them.

— By the way, how did you spend this short vacation?

— I spent it well. I went to St. Petersburg, walked around, rested, switched off from football a little.

— The decisive part of the season is ahead, eight matches remain in the Super League. With what attitude will you play in the upcoming matches?

— Due to a number of defeats, we were not in the best moral condition. So now we have to work hard, and I am sure that everything will be fine. Everything is within our power.

I understand that we are capable of this, the main thing is to implement everything that we train in the games.

The next official match of the WFC Dynamo will take place on September 14 - in the 19th round of the Super League, the white-blues will play away against Samara's Krylia Sovetov.
