Maria Digurova (center) celebrates Elina Samoilova's winning goal against Rostov in the first round match
The defender of the blue-and-white — about the upcoming match of the 15th round of the Super League with «Rostov».
— How would you characterize Rostov's game in the 2024 season?
— Rostov has demonstrated fighting qualities year after year. They fight until the last minute, do not give in, and try to play to win.
— What kind of football does Rostov play now compared to 2022, when you played for this team?
— Rostov always tries to run away in quick attacks, actively use the flanks, loading the penalty area. In defense, they act very aggressively and try to press throughout the match.
— How do you think their game will change with the arrival of a new coach?
— It's hard to say. This will be their first match in the Super League under the leadership of a new coach, so it is not yet clear whether Yana Gennadyevna (Chub - Ed. note from the press service of the Dynamo Women's Football Club) will have time to rebuild the team and convey her vision of football to the players. Therefore, you can expect anything from Rostov. We are preparing in our own mode, we will proceed from our game.
— Last season with Rostov there was a win and a draw, this year – a minimal win. What needs to be done to take three points this time?
— The most important thing now is to get in the right frame of mind. The most important matches are ahead, where every game is worth its weight in gold. Last week, the second round of the Super League started, and many teams played unpredictably. At this stage, every loss of points will play both against us and for our opponents, so we need to be in the right frame of mind for every match, for every team.
— What is Rostov’s strength? Which players should we pay attention to first?
— I wouldn’t like to single out anyone personally. Rostov has always been famous for its team play.
— And a few memories. How do you remember the year you spent in Rostov?
— First of all, I remember the weather. It is always very hot in Rostov-on-Don, and it is impossible to get used to it. We trained early in the morning, but the weather conditions still made themselves felt. Moreover, two years ago the team was led by a different coach, and training was always energy-consuming and emotional.
