Team status
Our team played the previous match two weeks ago and it was the starting game for the blue and whites in the Winline Russian Cup. If last season Dynamo finished its journey in the cup in the 1/8 finals, then this season it started at this stage.
For their first match of the current draw of the second most important tournament, the Dynamo team went to Tambov, where it was hosted by the Football Academy on the artificial turf of a football arena. The reigning First League champion club started in the cup even earlier, at the 1/16 stage, and did it very impressively - it defeated Volgograd Rotor in its home arena (10:2). So neither the players nor the Dynamo coaching staff were definitely expecting an easy walk in such unusual conditions. Although the blue and white have already played one match in the arena this season - they beat Yenisei in Krasnoyarsk.
It took Dynamo just under 15 minutes to prove their favorite status and realize their advantage at the start of the game in Tambov. In the 14th minute, Elena Shesterneva opened the scoring, and she also became the main character of this meeting. Having scored twice more during the game, the attacker scored a hat-trick. Perhaps this would have been enough, but not only Elena, and not only the Dynamo football players, scored in this match. Dynamo players Kristina Komissarova, Lamunat Mustafaeva and Kaylan Williams also scored a goal each, and the only goal of the Tambov team was scored by the main star of the Academy, captain and part-time player coach Natalya Simakina.
Other pleasant events happened in the Tambov arena for Dynamo players and their fans. Kristina Komissarova and Kamilla Abashilova played their 50th matches for Dynamo and joined Galina Geybieva, who opened this club!
— We expected exactly as much as the game turned out. We understood that “Football Academy” is an unyielding team that will fight in every episode, and this, in general, happened. The only thing was that we didn’t plan to concede a goal. It’s generally bad to miss, especially in a match when you completely dominate. For a match like this, it's wrong.
In this match we tried different combinations. We understood that we would beat Academy due to the skill level of our players, but we experimented, including in the second half. Therefore, the match had a moment both for experimentation and for advancing to the next stage. There were a lot of interesting decisions and combinations, so overall I’m happy, — head coach of the Dynamo Football Club Sergei Lavrentyev spoke about the game plan and the components of his team’s major victory.
The blue and white striker and the author of a hat-trick against the Tambov Football Academy, Elena Shesterneva, noted after the game that the Dynamo team could have scored more, and promised that she herself and the team with her were not going to stop there.
— Of course, we wanted to score more, but in principle we are satisfied with the result - we won and are moving on. We will score all our goals in the next rounds.
The opponent was not particularly surprised by anything. We were preparing for this match, we knew how Tambov played and what kind of game awaited us, so everything was expected. In principle, I am satisfied, but there is still something to strive for and where to grow.
The final score was 6:1, and the blue and white reached the quarter finals of the Winline Russian Cup, where they will meet Lokomotiv Moscow on their home field in Novogorsk. The preliminary date for the meeting is August 3.
By the way, besides the victory itself, two more pleasant events happened in Tambov - Kristina Komissarova and Kamilla Abashilova played their 50th matches for Dynamo and joined the symbolic club of “those who are 50+”, where Galina Geibieva is already located, who was the first to reach this beautiful mark!

About the opponent
The next opponent of the blue and white is ZhFK Krasnodar. The club from the south of Russia was formed four years ago, in February 2020, and is part of the structure of the men's Krasnodar, although the team was created directly on the basis of the women's football club Kubanochka, which ceased to exist after this transformation.
Krasnodar has been playing in the Super League since its inception. In the first season in the major league, Krasnodar took 6th place and reached the 1/4 finals of the Russian Cup, which at the moment remains the team’s best achievement. The next two seasons were not so successful: 2021 - 9th place and again the quarterfinals of the National Cup, 2022 - 8th place and 1/8 of the national cup.
Last season, Gamal Babayev’s team again took 9th place in the Super League (8 wins, 6 draws, 13 losses, goal difference 34-30) and reached the quarter finals of the Russian Cup.
This season Krasnodar is performing as a strong middle peasant. Krasnodar has an equal number of wins and losses (5-5 plus one draw) and a negative goal difference (11-13). All this does not yet allow the team to climb anywhere above 6th place in the Super League standings. To achieve this, the black-and-greens will have to try very hard: the gap from the fifth-placed Spartak is already 8 points, and the cheerful Zvezda 2005 is supporting them from below, with only one point difference between the teams.
But the Krasnodar team is doing well so far in the Winline Russian Cup: they have already passed two stages of the tournament, defeating the Astrakhan Volgar (8:0) and Ryazan-VDV (4:0) without any problems, and in the 1/4 finals they will go to Perm to visit the same “Zvezda-2005”. Considering that it is quite possible to compete with the Ural team for reaching the semi-finals of the national cup, it is possible that Krasnodar will set its own new team record in this tournament this season - it has not yet reached the semi-finals of the Winline Russian Cup.
Interesting fact: the team from the south of Russia is playing very poorly this season against teams that are located above it in the standings, and it doesn’t matter - at home or away. Thus, the Krasnodar team has already lost to Lokomotiv (0:2), Zenit (0:3), CSKA (0:1) and only once took points from a team above them, playing 0:0 with Spartak.
They also lost to Dynamo - at home in the 1st round of the Super League, the Krasnodar team lost with a score of 0:2. Then Elina Samoilova and Kristina Komissarova scored goals for the blue and white team, and for Krasnodar, in the first game of the season, they were sent off - midfielder Alina Likhota received a red card a couple of minutes after Dynamo’s second goal.
Here's another interesting fact! “Dynamo” and “Krasnodar” played three matches in the Super League with each other and all three ended with the same score – 2:0 in favor of the blue and white. So in the next game, the Krasnodar club will find itself in the shoes of Dynamo, which has a similar story in the matches with Zenit - the blue and white can’t beat the St. Petersburg team or score against it.
