Team status

In the 9th round of the Super League, our team went to Ryazan, where they played the most dramatic match so far this season. If all previous meetings with the Ryazan-VDV invariably ended in Dynamo victories (sometimes very large ones - 7:1 and 5:0, for example), then this time Sergei Lavrentiev’s charges had to show their character and give their best.

The unsuccessful first half performed by the blue and whites ended completely differently than the Dynamo coaching staff had planned - with a score of 0:2 in favor of Ryazan-VDV... After such a half of the match, our girls needed a real shake-up and, it seems, they got it at halftime. This is evidenced by how quickly the team returned to the game - already in the 53rd minute Kristina Komissarova pulled one goal back.

When in the 69th minute Kaylan Williams perfectly finished off Maria Galai's cross and equalized the score, it seemed that the Dynamo team were about to put the squeeze on the hosts. But this turned out to be not so easy.

Ryazans settled into a tight defense and snapped from time to time, occasionally breaking through to the Dynamo goal through the blue and white defenders, who did not give many chances to create something dangerous there. And the Ryazan girls themselves began to play rather rudely: in one of the episodes, Dynamo captain Yulia Bessolova got it, who had to stop the bleeding after being hit in the face.

And so, when it began to seem that things were heading towards a fighting draw, another leader of our team took the floor. At the very end of the match, in the 90th minute, with the last of her strength, Elina Samoilova literally rushed after the ball as it went over the end line and sent it to the goalkeeper’s area, where Helena Bozic found herself all alone. The Montenegrin defender could only put her foot under the ball and send it into the empty net, which she did without difficulty - 3:2! An incredible comeback and a super-strong-willed victory for Dynamo in Ryazan - the girls supported the main Dynamo trend of the last two weeks!

— It turned out to be a very interesting match. We didn’t get into the game in the first half, we lost a lot of rebounds, duels, and we weren’t able to transition into the attack.

But we made adjustments during the break and everything fell into place. The team immediately improved the quality of its passes, its movement, and its aggression in someone else’s penalty area, which ultimately brought success, — head coach of the Dynamo Football Club Sergei Lavrentiev said that it helped the team turn the game around and win an incredible victory in Ryazan.

The author of the winning goal, Blue and White defender Helena Bozic, also noted Dynamo’s character:

— In the first half we lacked concentration and desire, but everything changed in the second half. We managed to correct our mistakes and implement the coaching instructions. The main thing is that we showed character and won very important three points. Let's move on towards our goal!

Of course, such a great character-based victory not only added confidence to the players and gray hair to the fans, but also a very important three points in the fight for a place in the top three. The blue and white now not only occupy this place, but also lead the group of pursuers of the leader of the Super League standings - CSKA. And although the gap from the vice-champions and current holders of the Russian Cup is now a solid 5 points, do not forget that the blue and white have a match in hand and, if successful, will be able to get very close to the army team.

However, let’s remember another Dynamo trend this spring - moving from match to match, achieving the goal in each specific game.

About the opponent

The next opponent of the blue and white is Perm Zvezda 2005, the most titled club in Russian women's football:

  • 6-time Russian champion (2007, 2008, 2009, 2014, 2015, 2017)

  • 7-time winner of the Russian Cup (2007, 2011/12, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019)

  • finalist of the 2008/09 UEFA Cup

Back in 2007, just two years after the creation of the club, the team from Perm won its first Major League gold medals. Two years later, Zvezda-2005, under the leadership of Alexander Grigoryan, became the finalist of the UEFA Cup (the future Champions League among women's teams) for the first time in the history of Russian women's football - an achievement that has not yet been achieved by any other Russian team in European competition, even male. The latest trophy won by Zvezda 2005 is the 2019 Russian Cup.

Since 2020, when the Major League was transformed into the Super League, Zvezda 2005 has won championship medals only once - in the same 2020 it became the bronze medalist of the tournament. In the next 2021 season, the “stars” remained outside the top three, taking 4th place; in the 2022 and 2023 seasons they were also unable to participate in the fight for medals, taking 6th and 4th places, respectively.

True, last year the “stars” beat Dynamo Moscow at the end of the season in the fight for 4th place, which slightly blurred the impression of the blue and whites’ debut season in the Super League. Here, of course, we still need to remember how they did it. Everything was decided in a personal meeting in Novogorsk on November 4: the Perm team won with a score of 3:1, and the winning goal was scored by Liana Kotelnikova, a good friend and favorite of Dynamo fans, who moved to Perm on loan in August. At the end of the 2023 season, Zvezda 2005 took 4th place in the standings, beating Dynamo by 4 points.

However, the story did not end there. In the off-season, two more Blue and White football players went on loan to the Perm club - midfielders Ksenia Kuzishchina and Anastasia Pervushina. And in the same off-season, at a training camp in Turkey, the team met again, albeit in a friendly match. This time the score was 3:1 in favor of Dynamo, but the Perm Dynamos scored their goal again - this was done by Pervushina, who equalized the match in the 49th minute. These are the interesting relationships that Dynamo has developed in less than one calendar year with the most titled club in our championship.

This season is shaping up interestingly for Elena Suslova’s team. Having started from zero in Krasnoyarsk with Yenisey and a home defeat from CSKA (1:2), Zvezda 2005 then went on a streak of 4 wins - a draw - a loss (from Spartak at home, 1:2). As a result, the Permians have secured a place in the top 5 and are 5 points behind the group of teams that scored 19 points (Dynamo, Zenit, Lokomotiv). So a good result in the next meeting will not hurt the “stars” at all, especially since their calendar of upcoming matches is simply killer: after Dynamo (away), Suslova’s team will play with Lokomotiv (at home) and Zenit (away ).

In many ways, it is in these meetings that the real ambitions of the club from Perm this season will become clear.

Intersections

Maria Galai: Zvezda 2005, 2012-2018 (62 matches, 6 goals); Dynamo, 2024-present (7 matches, 2 assists)

As part of the Perm Zvezda 2005, Maria made her debut in the top league of Russian women's football in 2012. Over 7 seasons as a member of the Ural club, Galai became a 3-time champion of Russia (2014, 2015, 2017), won the Russian Cup three times (2013, 2015, 2016), became a silver (2013, 2016) and bronze (2018) medalist in the major league championship. Russia.

Milena Nikitina: Zvezda-2005, 2020-2022 (48 matches, 1 goal + 1 assist); Dynamo, 2023-present (24 matches, 6 goals + 5 assists)

As part of Zvezda 2005, Milena became a bronze medalist at the 2020 Russian Championship.

Ekaterina Sergeeva – a native of Perm and a graduate of the Zvezda-2005 Academy; Dynamo, 2022-present (25 matches, 8 goals + 6 assists)

Liana Kotelnikova (on loan) – Dynamo, 2022-2023 (36 matches, 12 goals + 4 assists); Zvezda-2005, 2023-present (20 matches, 3 goals + 1 assist)

Anastasia Pervushina (on loan) – Dynamo, 2022-2023 (40 matches, 3 goals + 6 assists); Zvezda-2005, 2024-present (7 matches, 1 assist)

Dynamo football players, silver medalists of the Youth League 2022 as part of Dynamo, went on loan to Zvezda 2005 this off-season, although Liana Kotelnikova has been playing for the Perm team on loan since August last year and even managed to score a goal in Dynamo's goal brought victory to Zvezda 2005 (1:3) in the November match of the final stage of the Super League in Novogorsk.

Anastasia Pervushina also scored in blue and white, albeit in a friendly game at a training camp in Turkey in January of this year.

Another interesting intersection awaits us in the next game of this season. The fact is that in the off-season both teams were replenished with female players who had previously played for the same club. Dynamo defender Ksenia Kubichnaya and Zvezda 2005 midfielder Anastasia Shlapakova played for Dynamo-BGUFK from Minsk last season and together won all possible trophies: the championship, the Cup and the Super Cup of Belarus! They also both play for the Belarusian national team, so they know each other very well.
