Team status
In the previous round, Sergei Lavrentiev’s team played again in Novogorsk – this time in the capital’s derby against one of the main favorites of the season, WFC CSKA. Before the head-to-head meeting, both teams went from the start of the season without defeat: the army team won 9 victories in a row, had the best goal difference (24 goals in 9 games!) and naturally topped the Super League standings, and the Dynamo team, although they lost points in the game with Chertanovo "(1:1), also never lost and were only 5 points behind CSKA, while having a game in hand. That is, if successful, the blue and white could get within one victory of the leaders of the standings.
But, unfortunately, the favorite of the season again proved his claims to the championship. As expected even before the start of the meeting, the match with Maxim Zinoviev’s team was very difficult for our team.
Having confidently played the first half and left their goal intact against the best attack of the season (24 goals in 9 matches!), the Dynamo players at the beginning of the second half left Nevena Damjanovic unattended in their penalty area, who opened the scoring in the derby. As it turned out, the CSKA captain's goal was the first and last of the game. In the remaining time, both teams tried to score, and CSKA even did it, but the goal was canceled due to offside. Plus, the army team also hit the post, but the same 100% chances never happened for the blue and white team.
The current holders of the Russian Cup and vice-champions of the Super League did not make any mistakes near their goal until the end of the match, which allowed them to bring the match to victory and extend their successful streak to 10 matches. But the blue and white suffered their first defeat of the season and temporarily fell out of the top 3 of the championship.
The head coach of Dynamo Football Club Sergei Lavrentyev also drew attention to the problems in the attacking actions of his team:
— Everything went according to our plan; CSKA had practically no prerequisites to score a goal. Yes, there were approaches, but no more. But this stupid goal that happened at the beginning of the second half, of course, turned everything around and gave free space to the army players, which we successfully closed for them until the goal was conceded. But we weren’t able to transition from defense to attack today; we played poorly in front today.
Of course, we miss the players we lost due to injuries - Fauzia Najemba, Irina Dricheva. These are players who can appear both in the starting lineup and during the match to strengthen the game. We didn’t have enough of this in the end; today nothing happened in attack.
Dynamo captain Yulia Bessolova, in turn, also noted that Dynamo did not have enough healthy aggression in attack in the game against the strongest team in the championship at the moment:
— We lacked aggression, especially in the phase of transition to attack. They clung poorly to the ball in front and could not keep it there in order to create something in the CSKA penalty area and on its approaches. If you don't shoot on goal, it's logical that goals won't just appear.
There are no victories without defeats, so there will be more to come. Everything is ahead. Let's look at the mistakes and work on them.
Despite the result of the match with CSKA, little has changed globally in the balance of power in the standings: Dynamo has three important games ahead in June, two of which are against contenders for the top 3: Spartak and Zenit. After them, much of the teams’ claims for medals and something more will, of course, become clearer.

About the opponent
The next opponent of the blue and white is ZhFK Spartak, a debutant club in the Super League, but far from a debutant in Russian women's football. By and large, this is the third version of the women's football club in red and white colors. The previous two appeared in different eras in the life of our country, lived their short lives brightly and disappeared from the football map of Russia.
The Spartak women's football team was first created in the Soviet Union in 1989. In 1990, Spartak took part in the first experimental USSR championship in the 2nd zone, where it took 3rd place. He repeated the same result in the next, last, USSR Championship in 1991.
After the collapse of the USSR, the Spartak Sports Club was included in the number of participants in the major league of the first Russian championship in 1992, where it played under the name “Spartak-Preobrazhenie” and took 8th place according to its results. In the same year, the club reached the final of the first ever Russian Cup, in which it lost to defending champion Interros in extra time at the Torpedo Stadium on Vostochnaya Street in Moscow with a score of 3:4. By the way, Valentina Barkova, a former coach of the Dynamo youth team in the 2023 season, well known to Dynamo fans, played in that Spartak squad for the 1992 season (and scored in the cup final!). She, along with other football players, left the club at the end of that championship - due to financial difficulties, the women's Spartak ceased to exist.
The return took place in 2001, when the owners acquired the major league team Diana, which after renaming became Spartak. This version of the red and white club lasted a little longer - until 2007. During this time, the Spartak team managed to achieve their main successes in women's football: they won silver medals in the Russian Championship (2006) and twice played in the finals of the National Cup (2005, 2006), where both times they lost to the Moscow region "Rossiyanka". After that season, the history of Spartak women's football was interrupted again. As it turned out, again for a while.
True, this time we had to wait longer for the revival - 15 years. First, in January 2022, it was announced the creation of the Spartak youth women's team, which took part in the First League, where it took 3rd place in the Moscow zone. And then, in October 2023, the launch of a full-fledged women's football club "Spartak" was announced:
– On October 30, the club introduced a new head coach – he became the former coach of the First League club “Strogino” Vadim Kozlov
– On December 9, 2023, the Spartak Football Club introduced the first player of the team’s main squad to play in the Super League – Karina Baklanova, ex-midfielder and captain of Dynamo Moscow.
In its debut Super League season, the revived Spartak has already declared its ambitions, if not for the championship title, then at least to fight for medals. Having started the season unsuccessfully with an away defeat to Zenit (0:1) and an away draw with Chertanovo (0:0), the red-whites then had a shocking streak in 7 matches: 5 wins and a draw with one defeat (predictably from CSKA – 0:1).
This allowed Spartak not only to get into the season and feel more confident in the Super League, but also to get closer to the group of teams that are fighting for the top three. So, the gap from Dynamo is now 5 points, from Zenit and Lokomotiv - 8. By the way, right now Spartak has more goals scored and fewer goals conceded than Dynamo: 17-5 versus 16- 6.
If only because of this and the situation in the standings, there is no point in talking once again about how important the upcoming head-to-head match between Dynamo and Spartak in Sokolniki will be. There is also a confrontation on a personal level: not only ex-Dynamo captain Karina Baklanova now plays for the red and white, but also Marina Fedorova, who also defended the blue and white colors last season and became one of the leaders of Sergei Lavrentiev’s team. Let us remind you that in the 2023 season our club achieved the best result in its history at the highest level - 5th place in the Super League and the 1/8 finals of the Russian Cup.
Achievements of the WFC Spartak: silver medals of the Russian Championship (2006), Russian Cup final (1992, 2005, 2006), victory in the international tournament for the prizes of the newspaper "Evening Kaluga" (1992).

Meeting history
