Sergey Lavrentyev: “We are a combat-ready team that is ready to play with everyone”

The head coach of the Dynamo Women's Football Club talks about the upcoming quarter-final match of the Winline Russian Cup with Lokomotiv.

— Did the unsuccessful match with Rostov somehow affect the psychological state of the team?

— I wouldn’t say that the match was unsuccessful, for us, first of all, it was a bad result. Overall, we played a good game. Of course, the team took a psychological blow. When you dominate the opponent and concede at the end of the match from a set piece, it’s hard.

We tried to level the playing field and relieve the players. We need to move on.

— Is there a difference in preparing for a Super League match and the Winline Russian Cup?

— It’s clear that we are preparing and studying the opponent. Overall, this week we tried to analyze the problems we had in the game with Rostov, identify the mistakes that led to the negative result, and understand what didn’t work out in the attack. That is, the preparation was combined. We also don’t forget about the functional state of the team.

— Now Lokomotiv is not the same team as at the beginning of the season. What do you think about the game of the Railwaywomen?

— This team has been strengthened by good players. But we can and should play with everyone, we are a competitive team that is ready to play with any opponent.

— Do you keep the result of the first round match with Lokomotiv in mind, or will it be a completely different story now?

— Now the opponent is completely different, and we are different, so there is no point in looking back, we need to look forward.

— What will come to the fore in this match?

— I think motivation, performance skills, and also how the teams will be able to realize their potential.
