Sergei Lavrentyev: “In a game with such opponents, every moment matters”

The head coach of WFC Dynamo commented on the results of the match with the current champion of the Super League – WFC Zenit (0:2).

— We conceded again at the beginning of the second half. We came out after the break collected and concentrated, but there was an attack, which Zenit logically carried through to the end. The opponents had a player come running from deep, and we, in turn, underperformed in defense.

I won’t say that we were sluggish in the second half, but in a game like that of an opponent like Zenit, every moment matters.

In general, we played well in both the first and second halves, it was just a matter of finishing the chances. If we had scored when the score was 0:0, the game could have turned out completely differently; if we had equalized the score at 0:1 in favor of Zenit, everything could have changed on the field too. But such moments must be used to win!

We knew perfectly well how Zenit would play, so we played actively, high, and understood that if we deprived them of the middle, they would switch to long passes. In general, this is what happened.
